Reflections
Reminders and writings from the MHG Erlangen community — in series, or as they come.
The Weight of a Single Sujood
There are moments in prayer when the floor beneath your forehead feels like the entire world has been set aside — all noise gone, all pretence stripped. What does it mean to truly prostrate?
Ramadan – The Season to Reset 🌙
Ramadan isn't just about going hungry – it's your chance to reset your heart. This is the month where minds grow through knowledge, hearts reconnect with faith, families come closer, and communities regain their spirit of care and giving.
Worship is about Quality, not Quantity 🌙
Ramadan is not just a passing season. It's a chance to reorganize your heart before you reorganize your life. One single verse, deeply reflected upon, is better than pages read without presence.
Why Do We Fast? 🌙
If Ramadan doesn't change you, it will simply pass you. We do not fast just to feel hungry. We fast… to change. "So that you may become righteous (have taqwa)."
Ramadan Sets Us Free 🌙
Ramadan is not just fasting. It's a chance to break free — from habits that drain you, the constant pressure of everyday life, and distractions that steal your focus.
The Power of Duʿāʾ in Ramadan 🌙
Ramadan is not just a month of fasting… It is a month of duʿāʾ and sincere return to Allah. Duʿāʾ can bring about miracles — many things that seem impossible become possible when we turn to Allah.
March 8 – International Women's Day 🌸
Women are not just half of society… They are the heart that nurtures, the mind that teaches, and the spirit that inspires hope. True respect is not a slogan for one day — it is a daily value.
The Last Ten Nights — The Crown of Ramadan 🌙
The most powerful, life-changing moments of the month. Every night counts — make it unforgettable! One night — Laylat al-Qadr — could change your life in this world and the next.
Why Was Laylat al-Qadr Hidden? 🌙
ʿĀ'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) asked the Prophet ﷺ what to say on Laylat al-Qadr. He taught her the duʿāʾ of ʿafw — complete forgiveness that erases sins as if they never existed.
وَهُوَ مَعَكُمْ أَيْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ
"And He is with you wherever you are." (57:4) — Not a metaphor. A statement. Wherever you are includes the exam hall, the lonely evening, the uncertain moment.
On Not Rushing the Salah
We live at a speed that makes prayer feel like an interruption. What if we treated it as the only appointment that actually matters — and arrived early?
Why We Built This Space
MHG Erlangen began as a small group of students who wanted a place to pray together. That desire — to not be alone in faith — is still what holds us.
أَلَا بِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ تَطْمَئِنُّ الْقُلُوبُ
"Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest." (13:28) — The Quran does not say hearts find rest in success, security, or certainty. Only in dhikr.
Ramadan Mubarak
May this month bring ease to what has been difficult, clarity to what has been confusing, and nearness to the One who is always near.
